Design Build Construction Corp. is dedicated to making your experience with our company a worry free and enjoyable one. It is very important to us that any questions you may have regarding your project are answered thoroughly with the proper solutions. Below is a list of faqs. If you find that your question has still not been answered please contact our office by phone, fax, or email and one of our highly trained associates will explain in detail any unanswered questions that you may have.

1. Are you licensed, insured, and have a New Jersey Consumer Fraud Contract that falls within New Jersey Attorney General Consumer Guidelines?

DBCC is licensed through the State of NJ Office of the Attorney General located at 124 Halsey St., second floor Newark, NJ 07102 license number 13VH04430700. It's important that you deal only with a licensed contractor. The contract should state the following items:

a. The contract should clearly state a start date as well as a completion date.

b.  A copy of a certificate of liability insurance showing a minimum of $2,000,000.

c. The insurance certificate should also list a worker's compensation amount with a minimum of $500,000.

d. In addition, the insurance document should list the vehicle coverage as well.

e. The contract should also be presented with a business registration certificate.

IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT THE CUSTOMER GETS A CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE STATING THAT THEY ARE ADDITIONALLY INSURED. YOU CAN ASK THE CONTRACTOR AND HE SHOULD BE ABLE TO PROVIDE YOU WITH THIS DOCUMENTATION WITH THE CUSTOMER LISTED AS THE ADDITIONAL INSURED IN THE LOWER LEFT HAND CORNER OF THE ACCORD INSURANCE DOCUMENT. IN ADDITION IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT DUE TO THE FACT THAT IF THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT TO HAPPEN OR SOMEONE WAS TO SERIOUSLY GET HURT, THE OWNER/CONSUMERS HOME OWNERS INSURANCE WOULD NOT COVER THE CLAIM DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE CUSTOMER DID NOT GET THE PROPER INSURANCE FORM THE CONTRACTOR. THIS WOULD LEAVE THE CUSTOMER IN A VERY SERIOUS SITUATION CAUSING THE POSSIBILITY OF A LIEN BEING PLACED ON THE PROPERTY/ WORKSITE ADDRESS AND COULD CAUSE THE CUSTOMER TO POSSIBLY LOSE THE PROPERTY IF A CLAIM IS FILED IN A COURT OF LAW

BEWARE OF ANY CONTRACTOR WITHOUT THE PROPER LICENSING AND INSURANCE DOCUMENTATION AS WELL AS THE ABOVE ITEMS NOT BEING LISTED IN THE CONTRACT

ALL OF DBCC LICENSING, ISURANCE DOCUMENTATION CORPORATE DOCUMENTATION IS LIST ON OUR HOMEPAGE ON THE TOP HALF, ABOUT US,

f. There should be language in the contract stating that the contractor will pass all manufacturers warranties on any materials used on the project to the owner. In addition the contract should also state that the contractor will guarentee all labor for a minimum of one year. Any defects in workmanship, etc. should be sent to the contractor. The contractor should respond promptly and correct any punch list defects within 30 days of receiving list of said defects. YOU ARE ENTITLED TO CANCEL THE CONTRACT WITHIN 3 DAYS OF SIGNING. The contract should specify in large print that the customer is entitled to a refund within 3 days of notifying the contractor by certified mail, personal delivery of cancellation or email. Language in the contract must state that the contractor shall refund any deposit given by the customer within 30 days of receiving notice of request of refund.

g. The contract should list the salesman's name that came to the site for the estimate or handled the transaction through their offices.

h. There also must be language in the contract stating if there is any financing involved. If financing is involved, the contractor should present the necessary documentation showing the amount financed, at what rate and for how long. We would suggest consulting with your attorney before getting involved with any financing directly through a contractor.

i. There also should be language in the contract stating that the contractor has not used any unlawful practices under title, law and public safety chapter 45A administrative rules of the division of community affairs, chapter 16 home improvement practices and chapter 13:45A-16.2 unlawful practices. The above items pertain to what is commonly known as "bait and switch" as well as other unlawful practices. You may contact the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General. Go to their website and click on contractors. All of the above items will be clearly stated and required to be in or part of a contractor, owner/consumer contract. The telephone number of the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General is 1-973-273-8001.

2. How should I choose a contractor?

Obviously as stated above, always make sure that your contractor has the licensing, insurance and corporate documentation; you should also ask for references as well as addresses or pictures of jobs that were completed. It is also important that you feel a comfort level with your contractor when speaking with them. Please keep in mind that on our larger projects there will be somewhat of a marriage formed and it is important that you are able to communicate properly with your contractor as well as feeling a trust factor. Nothing should ever be verbal as far as any changes to the contract are concerned. If the owner requests any changes or additions over and above the contract it should be presented to the customer in a change of work order that must be agreed upon by all parties and signed and made part of the original contract.

3. Do you give estimates for repairs?

Design Build Construction Corp. can estimate all larger jobs over $250 for free. Smaller jobs will be repaired by one of our experienced technicians at an hourly rate of 69/hr (please refer to the hourly repair program on our home page).

4. Who is sent to my residence to do the work?

A uniformed D.B.C.C technician with proper identification will arrive at your home with their own tools. All of our work is completed by our staff technicians. No work through our hourly program is sub contracted. It is important that materials are on the job or we can assess your job and pick up the required materials for you. All of our work is warrantied for a minimum of 1 yr and a maximum of 10 yrs with respect to labor. In addition we pass all manufacture warranties on to our customers. (please refer to our warranty guarantee on our home page).

5. How do I schedule a date for service?

Scheduling an appointment for your repair is as easy as calling our office during normal business hours, calling our emergency toll free number after hours for extreme emergencies or filling out a v¢‚?¨˜?request for service" on our website. We are very proud to say that when you schedule an appointment you can rest easy knowing that we will not disappoint you and one of our experienced technicians will show up on time with the correct tools to complete your repair.

6. How do I pay for your service?

Design Build Construction accepts all forms of payment; check, Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover, as well as electronic check by phone. We also offer financing for larger projects.

7. What is your area of coverage?

D.B.C.C. services the entire state of NJ, NYC and Eastern PA. For larger jobs we may exceed this area of coverage. We also offer construction management, where in some cases we have done commercial projects and custom residential homes in places like Tortola and Virgin Gorda, which is part of the British Virgin Islands, in addition to larger commercial and residential projects across the United States.

8. How do I pay for the services performed?

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO NOT GIVE A CONTRACTOR A DEPOSIT BEFORE THE PROPER DOCUMENTATION IS PRODUCED BY THE CONTRACTOR AND A CONTRACT IS SIGNED. BEWARE OF ANY CONTRACTOR THAT TELLS YOU TO APPLY FOR THE PERMIT YOURSELF. The contract should be extremely specific, it should state the types of materials used from framing lumber to finishing's such as faucets with style numbers, paint colors, manufacturers name, series and color of siding and roofing materials just to name a few.
